Hallam Contracts operates within the general contracting area of the construction industry and is heavily experienced within the education, residential, healthcare, student accommodation, industrial, commercial and leisure sectors.
Founded in 1922 by John Henry Hallam, the grandfather of the current chairman, the company is one of the oldest established construction companies in the East Midlands.
Still family owned and controlled, Hallam Contracts is based in Oadby, near Leicester and undertakes projects across the Midlands ranging from £100K to £25m.

When delivering projects our key objective is to approach the works with the ethos of the Hallam motto, ‘together we build’. With a non-adversarial attitude, we strive for 100% client satisfaction. We offer a first-class ability to deliver value for money to our clients with our experience gained through extensive value engineering and our accredited supply chain.
Our Design and Construct experience is proven; with a 40 year track record constituting some 50% to 70% of the company’s annual turnover. We operate through a range of procurement methods including traditional, Design and Construct, negotiated, frameworks and two stage tendering – and deliver construction excellence through all of these.
A large number of our projects come from long-standing retained clients who come back to us year on year with repeat business. These established business relationships are testament to our focus on customer needs, value engineering and ultimately delivering high quality results.
Our Approach
We employ and retain over 50 experienced, highly technical staff based on site and at head office. Our experience enables us to provide excellent input into build ability, lessons learnt, Value Engineering, Value Management and Risk Management, and ensures that we deliver projects on time and within budget.
For projects under £1m we have a dedicated General Works department who undertake new build and refurbishment projects through negotiated and traditional procurement methods.
Our directly employed workforce provides all of the traditional construction trades, including groundworks, carpentry and joinery, brickwork and blockwork. At Hallam Contracts, we are confident that retaining our own labour force distinguishes us from our competitors, ensuring responsibility at all levels and generating operating efficiencies, which lead to the exemplary quality of workmanship produced.
