TQ Environmental PLC are a registered ISO9001 company and are currently working towards ISO14001 environmental accreditation. The company has three main divisions, Environmental Systems, General Gas Detection and Marine Monitoring Systems.
Environmental Systems covers products such as continuous emission monitors and ambient air pollution monitors. General Gas Detection includes all on-shore industrial plants and off-shore oil installations where gas detection is used to protect the workforce from flammable, toxic and asphyxiant gases. The Marine Monitoring Systems division manufactures gas, smoke, temperature, pressure and level monitoring systems for oil tankers, chemical tankers and vehicle carriers.
The company has built an impressive customer base in a relatively short time, mainly due to the quality of TQ products. The customer list includes the likes of ICI, Zeneca, Smithkline Beecham, London Underground, Nuclear Electric, National Power, Shell, Mobil, P&O, BP and the Ministry of Defence.
TQ design, manufacture and market a range of highly cost effective gas detectors and related control systems.
Boiler Houses Gas or oil fired boilers are widely used in hospitals, hotels, banks, schools, sports centres, factories and offices they also usually run continuously and automatically. There is always a minor risk of leakage because of loose fittings or pipe fracture. Extremes of temperature, or a heavy vehicle outside the building may cause fracture of underground pipes and the gas or oil may seep into the boiler room. If methane is the fuel collector cones on ceiling mounted detectors are fitted whereas with propane, butane(or LPG) the detectors need to be at ground level. System outputs provide facilities for boiler shutdown, fan control etc. as well as alarms.
Industrial / Chemical Plants Hazardous areas (zone 0,1 & 2) are monitored continuously for toxic and flammable gases using flameproof equipment. The sensors used are fully weather proof and operate at extremes of climatic temperature. Specialist Systems monitor highly toxic, exotic gases, such as phogene and hydrogen cyanide. These systems completely self test every 24 hours to provide the operator with total system confidence.
Offshore For hostile environments encountered offshore TQ supply explosion proof methane and hydrogen sulphide sensors requiring minimal maintenance.
Landfill Sites The generation of methane, oxygen and carbon dioxide on landfill sites is monitored from bore holes using multipoint sequencing sampling systems. Reclaimed landfill sites require continuous monitoring both during construction work and in erected builings. Methane, carbon dioxide and oxygen concentrations are monitored in abstracted gas lines to optimise engine carburation in gas utilisation schemes under NFFO licence.
Refigeration Plants
Refigeration plants are monitored to provide annucication of ammonia, flammable gas mixtures, and freon gas leaks. All detection equipment is designed and manufactured in compliance with BS4434:1995.
Tunnels & Mines Car tunnels require continuous monitoring for dangerous carbon monoxide levels, as a result of vehicle emissions. Underground lines & mines require contiuous monitoring for naturally occuring hydrogen sulphide, methane and oxygen deficiency. TQ were recently awarded the contract for supplying gas detection systems on London Undergroud's new Jubilee Line.
