Company Description

We specialise in rubber-to-metal bonding and the processing of advanced materials such Hydrogenated Nitride rubber, Fluoroelastomers and Perfluoro Elastomer. Our hydraulic presses range from 10 to 600 tonnes with platen sizes up to 1.8M x 1.0M. We have a number of high shot volume, Tall daylight PC controlled injection moulding machines made to our own design. We have recently invested in a state-of-the-art Baulé mixing/dispensing machine which enables us to produce a wide range of castings in polyester and polyether urethanes. Accredited to ISO 9001:2008 . We strive to exceed our customer's expectations and we take pride in producing rubber mouldings of the highest standard to reliable delivery schedules.

We are the sole manufacturers of the world patented Hex-Air Diffuser , a wastewater treatment aerator system with a choice of rubber diaphragms to suit all applications in domestic and industrial wastewater purification. Our latest development is a non-toxic alternative to lead. This patented material can be injection moulded to specific gravities of up to 11.3 With over 42 years of experience , we can provide: all your rubber moulding and rubber-to-metal bonding services from assisting with product design recommending a suitable compound from our vast portfolio of formulations d esigning and procuring tooling through to final production.

We'd like you to regard Elastomer Engineering as the number one UK choice For all your rubber moulding requirements. Component design can be critical to its performance. Our many years of accumulated knowledge and practical experience enable us to offer professional advice in all aspects of product design helping to reduce costs and enhance performance and service life. We are able to provide a wide range of mouldings in all types of natural and synthetic rubbers including polyurethane, from one-off prototypes to larger production batches. Our extensive in-house manufacturing facilities include bonding rubber compounds to fabrics, metals, plastics and PTFE. All trimming, finishing and inspection operations are carried out on site to ensure the highest quality standards . Working from a sample, sketch or drawing (including CAD files) we can quickly provide a quotation for products and associated tooling. We take all necessary control and responsibility for the product from initial customer.

Rubber Compression Moulding

We operate a wide range of state-of-the-art machinery in order to meet the demands of the industry. Alongside our modern equipment we also operate a range of conventional hydraulic presses of which a large number are computer-controlled for increased accuracy and consistency.

Our highly skilled and qualified engineers use our machines to create prototypes and small and medium batch productions. Compression moulding is an economical method of manufacture and works by compressing a piece of uncured rubber between heated mould plates to mould the rubber to the shape of the cavity and vulcanise after a certain length of time.

We operate small 10-tonne laboratory presses through to large 600-tonne twin ram machines. Essentially, our equipment allows us to manufacture one of the largest ranges of rubber compression moulding sizes in the UK.

Rubber Transfer Moulding

We also provide a high quality rubber transfer moulding service. Transfer moulding is largely used for prototype, low or medium volume production. The production process can be described as half way between compression moulding and injection moulding. A transfer mould features an uppermost pot and plunger assembly which is connected by feeds and gates into the cavity. The extra heat that is picked up creates a shorter vulcanisation time. The process of transfer moulding is more costly than other methods of production but is often more effective.

Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we will provide you with information and advice on the most efficient and cost-effective products and services.

Rubber Injection Moulding

We provide a range of high shot volume, computer controlled vertical injection machines. These have been carefully designed and manufactured to meet and surpass the limitations of conventional injection moulding machines. Our rubber injection moulding machines accommodate large injection pressures in order to produce long and bulky mouldings that other processes cannot.

Our machines are reasonable in price and only cost slightly more than equivalent compression versions. Other benefits of our rubber injection moulding machines include faster cycle times, leading to lower unit prices, and suitability for bonding.

Please enquire at Elastomer Engineering Ltd for further information.

PU Moulding & Casting

We provide a range of high quality MDI-polyurethanes in polyester and polyether grades. These feature high tensile strength, abrasion and cutting resistance properties as well as excellent chemical, oil and water resistance. Our polyurethane rubbers can be manufactured in a range of harnesses from 55 to 95 Shore A as well as in a range of colours. Polyurethane is easily bonded to metals and textiles and tooling for production is lower when compared to other rubber moulding processes due to the low pressures used in production.

PU Coated Lifting Slings

We have been providing our polyurethane coating service for nearly thirty years. This hugely successful process extends the life of lifting equipment. By coating webbing and lifting slings with cast polyurethane, it soaks into the surface and provides an incredibly strong bond. We provide polyether and polyester grades each offering excellent physical properties and chemical resistance.

Alongside our coating service, we can also cast polyurethane onto wire woven slings for complete encapsulation. Our range of machinery enables us to provide services at competitive prices.

Please contact us to find out more.

Rubber to Metal Bonding

We have many years of experience and knowledge when it comes to rubber-to-metal bonding and work with various materials such as aluminium, brass, cast iron, copper, gold, phosphur bronze, silver, steels (including stainless), titanium, tungsten, and zinc. We have the capabilities and facilities to undertake a range of services such as vapour decreasing, shot blasting, preheating/drying, and painting.

While we are able to supply a comprehensive range of metals, customers are also welcome to provide their own materials for us to work with. Please contact us at Elastomer Engineering Ltd for further information and technical advice.

Rubber Core Sleeves

We are pleased to work alongside associate company, Laszlo Lombos, to manufacture and supply Rock Core Analysis Sleeves to the oil industry. We use various rubber types including nitrile (two grades), hydrogenated nitrile, fluoroelastomer 'B', fluoroelastomer 'GF', polyurethane, natural rubber, neoprene, Viton Extreme®, and perfluoroelastomer. We have more than thirty years experience in the industry enabling us to manufacture a wide selection of sleeve sizes in a range of compounds, featuring moulded porting and electrodes as required.

Hex-Air Fine Bubble Diffuse

Our Hex-Air Fine Bubble Diffuser is highly sought after in the industry to reduce levels of nitrogen and phosphorus in domestic and industrial wastewater. The diffuser works by producing fine bubble aeration to promote the conversion of nitrogenous material to nitrate, while the anaerobic cycle converts the nitrate to harmless nitrogen. Phosphorus compounds are precipitated out during this process. Our Hex-Air Fine Bubble Diffusers can be fitted with four types of rubber diaphragm: EPDM (for domestic wastewater treatment plants, hydrogenated nitrile (for industrial wastewater heavily contaminated with oil), Viton (for harsh chemical exposure), and Silicone rubber
(for hard water and leachate applications).
