With our PCB Design & Layout service, we can project manage the introduction of your new product from the very beginning. Modern new product development practices utilise computer aided design (CAD) software that facilitates the progression of your design from concept through to finished design with firmware and hardware. If the design is very complex, our engineers will work with a specialist electronic design house to ensure your product receives the highest level of electronic design skills possible. All new PCB designs with which we are involved receive input from our skilled engineers by our Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) services. We can also provide DFM advice on existing designs.

Both our UK and Romanian factory sites have extensive facilities for the assembly of ESD protected Printed Circuit Boards. This gives us the ability to fulfil even the most demanding requirements for Plated Through Hole and Surface Mount Technologies.
Each site has state-of-the-art wave soldering and convection reflow equipment that facilitates controlled PCB component soldering following either hand or automatic placement. Solder paste printing is done via our Sigma AX400 solder paste printers. We use high speed Philips/Assembleon pick and place lines configured with large component sequencers (LCS). Reflow soldering is done with our Essemtec convection reflow solder oven.
Our fully trained operators assemble all boards to IPC-A-610D Class 3 Standards. Efficient and responsive quality assurance is enhanced by Yestech F1S equipment that provides Automated Optical Inspection (AOI).

Our Surface Mount (SMT) PCB assembly process consists of three main phases: screen printing, pick and place, and reflow soldering. For screen printing, we use a Speedline SP100 computer controlled screen printer that precisely aligns the PCB to the solder paste screen. The solder paste we use is SAC387 lead free with no clean flux. Surface mount pick and place is done with a high-speed Phillips line that can place up to 15,000 components per hour, enabling large batch processing when required. The Yestech F1S High Speed Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) used for quality assurance can detect a wide variety of defects including short solder, bent lead or skewed components at a speed of up to 250,000 components per hour. Reflow soldering is performed with the computerised Essemtec RO400FC convection oven that utilises a vertical airflow for efficient heat transfer. Precise temperature control at all stages of the soldering is maintained via software profiles specific to the glue and solder.

We carry out conventional through-hole component placement to IPC-A-610D Class 3 workmanship standards by hand or with a semi-automatic component insertion station. After cropping the board if necessary with our Blakell Autosheer equipment, soldering can be done manually or with our AFT250 Wave Solderer. We use no clean solder wire for manual soldering, and lead free SACPO307 solder with no clean flux for wave soldering. The ATF250 uses full convection pre-heating and automatic spray fluxing, with composite coated pots and solder waves, and has Dual Wave capability for soldering THT and SMD components.

Our highly skilled and experienced staff carry out cable and wire harness assembly to IPC/WHMA - 620 Class 3 standard using the latest cable assembly preparation equipment.
We have fully automatic Kodera and Komex wire processing machines that feature crimp force analysis and digital crimp height for precision and consistency. We supplement these machines with a range of semi-automatic equipment that we use for crimping, preparation and marking for lower volume assemblies.
Our Cable Assembly Services include:
- Cut and prepared wires: strip, tin dip, crimp (single and multi-core)
- Crimped assemblies: we have automatic connector and crimp tooling for all major manufacturers to include Cannon, Deutsch, JST, Hirose, Molex and Tyco
- Cable Looms and Harnesses for applications ranging from panel wiring to industrial interconnect harnesses

The flexible Komax Gamma 255 fully automatic crimping machine performs a key role in our Cable Assembly Services. The Komax 255 is compatible with all commercial applications, and offers efficient high-quality processing of cross sections ranging from as smallas 0.0123mm2 / AWG36 to 2.5mm2 / AWG14, and can work with double-side crimped wires as short as 20 mm. Our configuration of the Komax 255 includes a crimping module, twisting module and fluxing / tinning device as well as integrated crimp height measurement and pull-out force monitoring devices for quality assurance. This high speed machine has a prefeeder and two wire straightening units, as well as splice, knot and wire-end detection. The Komax 255 can be used for cutting, full strip or half strip, crimping, ink-jet marking, twisting / tinning, ferrule crimping, split cycle for closed barrel and coaxial and triaxial cabling.
