Company Description

Engineering Dynamics Ltd is a specialist designer and manufacturer of standard and bespoke vibration isolation and rubber moulding products. We're a small, privately owned company with over three decades of experience in the field, and we pride ourselves on a customer-focussed approach. We provide clients with technical advice and design recommendations for their applications, consulting at all stages of the development process for an optimised solution.

As well as developing brand new, innovative designs, Engineering Dynamics provides a cost-effective option in the form of standard products for those customers who do not require application-specific components. Our standard ranges of vibration isolation mounts are available in a range of materials. At our development facility we have our very own in-house design team using the very latest 3D CAD, FEA and Modal Analysis technologies. We also have an on-site rubber moulding shop, vibration testing lab, and a tooling shop. Our vibration simulation machines, which we use for component testing, are available to third parties for hire.

We have a range of equipment that covers sinusoidal vibration testing, random vibration testing, shock and bump simulation, and standard vibration testing. We've designed and supplied vibration isolation components for a range of industries, including defence, where our products have been used in Harrier, Tornado and Eurofighter Typhoon jets, Challenger 2 Tanks, Lynx Helicopters, Rapier Missile Systems and various light artillery and armoured vehicles. Only components of the very highest quality are used in such applications, and only a company as skilled and experienced as Engineering Dynamics can provide them. Standard Anti-Vibration Mounts

Engineering Dynamics supplies a broad selection of standard anti-vibration mounts which can be used in all sorts of applications. These are available in a variety of materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, butyl, fluorosilicone, and many more. The type of mount that you need depends on the
position, static load, dynamic load and environmental conditions (temperature, atmosphere, contaminants etc) of the application, as well as your own accessibility requirements for fixings and installation. The team at Engineering Dynamics are more than capable of advising you on the best mount for the job.

Vibration Testing

Engineering Dynamics uses a number of state-of-the-art machines for testing the components we design. These facilities are available to third parties for testing, assessing and developing their mechanical sub-assemblies or complete products. Our electromagnetic shaker with slip table is able to simulate sinusoidal vibration, sine-on-random vibration, random vibration, and impact shock. A fixture is needed to secure the test piece to the shaker - customers can supply these themselves, or we can provide a quote for the design and manufacture of a fixture in-house. For more details regarding our fixture design services, see below.

Vibration Fixtures

It's essential that the correct fixture is used during vibration testing. The use of an inappropriate vibration fixture can potentially give unnecessary natural frequencies, and these can cause the premature failure of the test subject. We use Modal Analysis techniques to design and manufacture a fixture that is tailored to the needs of your equipment. Before delivery, these are proof tested using an electromagnetic shaker. If you would prefer to manufacture your own fixture, we'll happily supply the working drawings. A good vibration fixture ought to be light and rigid, with little or no resonant frequencies within the test range.

Fighting Vehicle Connectors

Engineering Dynamics designs and manufactures a complete range of FV connectors for Engineering Connections, a subsidiary company that has been supplying the MoD since 1996. Single pole connectors are available in high and low temperature ranges, up to a maximum of 200°C. For further information and specifications, please follow this link to our website, or get in touch directly with the team for detailed advice and recommendations.

Specialist Products

Engineering Dynamics also manufactures components for Eurofighter aircraft. They include:

  • JN1125 mating and unmating device with front mounted electrical connectors ;
  • JN1005 front hold down screw for LRIs that use rear mounted electrical connectors ;
  • JN1096 fibre optic cable protector ;
  • JN1108 inserter/extractor for LRIs employing rear mounted connectors ;
  • JN1155 pin rear hold down, used on LRIs for production aircraft.

Bespoke Solutions

Providing bespoke components is our speciality. At our design and manufacturing facility in Hampshire, we have an expert team of engineers using state-of-the-art software and machinery. Drawing upon years worth of industry experience and application understanding, they are able to develop bespoke solutions for anti-vibration mounts, shock mounts, rubber mouldings, anti-vibration trays and shock trays, quick release anti-vibration assemblies, and self-adhesive damping boards. Each component that we manufacture goes through a methodical development process that includes CAD design, mould manufacturing (prototyping), vibration testing (static and dynamic), component re-design, re-testing, and final production. We are able to use a range of materials, including mild steel, stainless steels, aluminium, and a number of soft to hard elastomers (butyl, neoprene, natural rubber, nitrile, silicone, fluorosilicone, etc).
