We are able to offer mild steel manufactured to close tolerances on thickness and width and with particular mechanical characteristics. This can be produced in line with your specific requirements. We supply the following type of mild steel strip: Cold rolled DC01 to DC06 grade steel for cold forming in thicknesses of between 0.125mm and 3mm and widths of between 5mm and 600mm; Extra thin steel produced to EN 10139 standards available in thicknesses of between 0.05mm and 0.120mm, and in widths of 10mm to 600mm; Heavy gauge cold rolled steel and HR equalised strip produced to EN 10139 & 10140 standards in thicknesses from 2.10mm to 7mm and widths from 4.00mm to 400mm; Special steels and alloy steels produced to EN 10131/NFA 36-232 standard with a high elasticity. Pre-coated steels shorten the process time from raw material to finished product and their aesthetically attractive appearance improves the final product. Avocet offers a full range of metallic electro-plated steels and organically coated steels, all of which are produced exactly to your specification. Stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium can also be supplied in pre-painted coils in an endless variety of colours and finishes (including heat resistant and food safe). Cold rolled mild steel coils can be electro-zinc plated with 1 mic to 5 mic coating per side.

Where tensile strength and hardness are required, Carbon steels are the material of choice. These can be supplied heat treated and tempered in thicknesses of between 0.45mm and 7.00mm, and widths of between 5mm and 600mm. Edges can be dressed/deburred or rounded. Carbon steels are ideal for the manufacture of springs.

Hardened and tempered carbon and stainless steels are used in the production of a wide range of products, including blades, tools and springs. Avocet supplies high tensile carbon steel wire which can be used in the manufacture of springs. It can be both heat treated and tempered. Carbon steel spring wire is produced to EN 10270 specification and comes in diameters of between 0.30mm and 8.00mm (patented), or 2.50mm and 13.00mm (stelmor). Spring wire is galvanised hot dip zinc coated with standard and heavy coating options. We also offer oil tempered spring wire produced to EN 102370-2 specification between 2.00mm dia and 13.50mm dia. Wide mill products may be hot rolled in coils, sheets or plates and come dry or pickled and oiled. Thickness ranges from 1.50mm to 20mm while material may be between 20mm and 2000mm wide. Grades include S235, S275, S355, S240mc, S355mc, S500mc, and S700mc. We also offer cold reduced metals in coils, sheets or blanks in thicknesses of between 0.30mm to 2.00mm, and widths ranging from 5.00mm to 2000mm. Avocet supplies a broad range of first-class stainless steel tubes for decorative, furniture and architectural purposes. Stainless steel tubes are usually available ex stock ex works in standard 6m lengths, with a 180 grit surface finish. Avocet Steel Strip Ltd supplies Ultralite Foil manufactured in a climate controlled factory dedicated to the production of metal foils. These are rolled 14 inches wide and come in thicknesses ranging from 0.0381mm right down to 0.0127mm. Foils may also be supplied slit to size and coiled in accordance with your individual requirements. A number of materials are available, including stainless steels, titanium, nickel alloys and various specialised metals. Avocet are also able to supply precision round, flat, square and shaped wires – in fact, an almost infinite number of profiles are possible. Materials include stainless steel, titanium, cobalt alloys, nickel alloys, nitinol and monel.

This category includes traverse wound coils and reels and edge dressed coils. The former may be loaded to your preferred weight in a range of 120-1250kg. Traverse wound coils have a 400mm id with a travel width of 200, 300, 400 or 500mm. Outside diameters range from 550mm to 1000mm. Coils with narrower widths (between 3mm and 8mm) may be supplied on plastic DIN reels.

Avocet makes available tensional steel strapping in both standard and high tensile grades, specification EN 13246. A number of finishes are possible, including bright, blued, waxed, black lacquered and zinc effect. Standard strapping has a tensile strength of between 700 and 750n/mm², while high tensile strapping has a tensile strength of 925n/mm². Various sizes are available.
