SkyWrap®

SkyWrap® offers a retrofit solution for the installation of fibre-optic cables on overhead power lines. Its lightweight design imposes only minimal additional load on conductors, poles and towers, and its ease of installation means it can be deployed extremely quickly and cost-effectively – the result is increased network fibre capacity with minimum disruption to the electricity supply.

OPGW

OPGW (Optical Ground Wire), primarily used by the electric utility industry, is designed to be placed in the secure topmost position of the transmission line where it shields the all-important conductors from lightning whilst providing a telecommunications path for internal as well as third party communications. AFL was a leader in the development and launch of OPGW back in 1985, when the industry first began to realise that electric transmission lines provided an ideal right of way for a telecommunications path. Today we have the world’s largest OPGW product portfolio and the highest total capacity, with facilities situated throughout the world to satisfy the requirements of a global market.

ADSS

AFL-ADSS® cables have been designed for installation in distribution as well as transmission environments, even when live-line installations are required. As the name suggests, ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) cables require no support or messenger wires, so installation can be completed in a single pass. This makes them a simple and economical means of building a fibre optic network. AFL produces its own line of attachment hardware that simplifies the network design phase of project whilst ensuring full compatibility between the cable and related components.
