| Company Description |
In 1988 the British Glass Industry Research Association (BGIRA) and the Glass Manufacturers Federation (GMF) were merged to create the British Glass Manufacturers Confederation (BGMC) as a focal point for support to the glass industry''s technical and federation activities. In 1995 British Glass Technology Limited was set up to undertake the technical work in a totally independent international research and development facility specialising in glass science and technology. In 1999 British Glass Technology ceased to exist, Glass Technology Services (GTS) was then born. GTS is an independent, unbiased, wholly owned subsidiary of British Glass.
The British Glass Manufacturers Confederation has over 100 members comprising glass manufacturers and supply and user companies. It promotes glass as the first choice material in containers, flat, domestic, scientific and fibre applications. Strong links are maintained with government in London and with the European Commission to represent the views of the industry in discussions leading to legislation which may affect the industry or its products. BGMC undertakes activities of common interest on behalf of the industry - the development of waste glass recycling, for example, is given high priority.
Glass Technology Services provides a comprehensive range of technical support to the glass industry world-wide. We specialise in all aspects of glass technology, analytical and diagnostic services, process instrumentation and consultancy.
As long as there is a world demand for glass there will always be a need for improved production efficiency, product consistency and innovation - GTS will continue to support and contribute to the world''s glass industry.
