ASSOCIATION FOR SPECIALIST FIRE PROTECTION
The Association represents over 50 of the UK's major Manufacturers and Contractors as well as regulatory and certification bodies, involved in specialist passive fire protection. In order to promote quality, consistency and good working practices ASFP has a code of practice for the design, supply and installation of passive fire protection systems. ASFP and its members are fully committed to sustaining through performance their recognised position in the construction industry
ASFP is able to:
assist specifiers and main contractors to identify products suitable for specific requirements both in the UK and Overseas.
Provide specialist knowledge on fire protection matters
Supply copies of state of the art publications
CONTRACTORS are required to demonstrate a current track record in passive fire protection and submit to, at their expense, an inspection and vetting by the ASFP Technical Officer. If an applicant is unable to demonstrate the required track record, it may be appointed probationary members in the interim. (Probationary members are entitled to all benefits of Full Members other than displaying the logo or being entitled to use the Contractor's Letter of Endorsement).
MANUFACTURERS are required to provide details of contracts where their products have been installed. The Technical Officer may undertake an inspection visit and seek details of BS and other tests.
DISTRIBUTORS - Specialist suppliers and distributors may be required to provide test information and technical data on products that they offer, which are not manufactured by an existing ASFP member.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS includes Consultants, Specialist Laboratories, Distributors and Raw Material Suppliers. The Council deals with applicants on an individual basis.
OVERSEAS CONTRACTORS/MANUFACTURERS - Similar to UK Companies with the exception of the visit from the Technical Officer. Recommendations will be sought from ASFP manufacturers who supply the overseas contractors with materials etc.
