BFPA was formed in 1986 (formerly AHEM) to promote the technical, trade and commercial interests of the British manufacturers and suppliers of hydraulic and pneumatic components. The Association is a very active member of CETOP - the European Oil-Hydraulic and Pneumatic Committee.

Membership is open to hydraulic and pneumatic equipment manufacturers and suppliers, education and research establishments.
Subscriptions are based on the annual turnover sales directly associated with fluid power equipment in and from the United Kingdom.
British Fluid Power Distributors Association
The British Fluid Power Distributors Association (BFPDA) is affiliated to BFPA and is dedicated to the improvement of distribution performance within the fluid power industry. Each distributor member company signs a strict undertaking to promote high professional standards within the industry in its dealings with its customers, suppliers and competitors.
