The EEF is the Engineering Employers' Federation, the representative voice of engineering in the UK. We are a nationwide federation of 13 regional Associations and the ECIA, the Engineering Construction Industry Association.
The EEF has a membership of over 5,700 companies of all sizes, employing over 875,000 people from every sector of engineering, manufacturing, engineering construction and technology-based industries.
The largest sector employers' organisation in the UK, we are non-party political and strive to influence the decisions of the UK Government and European institutions in order to create the most favourable business environment for engineering, manufacturing and technology based business.
Advice and Tribunal Representation The EEF has a national team of around 60 experienced advisers specialising in HR, personnel and employment law issues of whom two-thirds are qualified employment lawyers. This makes the EEF one of the largest service providers in the field.
Through its Regional Associations, the EEF provides specialist advice and assistance to employers in all aspects of employment law:
contractual issues, including vetting and drafting of contracts disability, racial and sex discrimination disciplinary issues dismissal equal pay maternity & family leave redundancy sexual harassment transfer of undertakings
This service includes a telephone help-line.
In addition, EEF Regional Associations offer representation of companies before Employment Tribunals. Tribunal representation is normally part of the core service offered to members by Regional Associations. In appropriate cases, EEF will also represent Member Companies, without further charge, in appeals to the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
Publications The EEF's advisory and tribunal representation service is supplemented by a range of specialist publications which are free to members, including the EEF Employment Guide - a comprehensive guide to employment issues, including recruitment and termination, the employment relationship and trade union issues. In addition, we publish the 'Aspects of Employment and the Law' series. Publications in this series include Data Protection and Employment Records, Guide to Maternity and Parental Leave and Implementing the Working Time Regulations - a Practical Guide.
Training EEF Regional Associations offer employers a full and varied programme of seminars and workshops on employment law, covering both new developments and refresher and basic courses.
Representing Members' Views to Government EEF works actively to represent the views of employers to government and to the EU institutions on proposals for employment legislation, helping to reduce the burden of new laws on business.
