Stainless Steels

We are constantly expanding our range to include the widest variety of stainless steels to be found anywhere in the UK. Our customers can choose from a range of profiles, shapes, sizes, and finishes. The following is a list of just some of the steel formats that we offer; cold rolled sheet, hot rolled plate (CPP), square tubes, rectangular tubes, flat bar, angle bar, hexagonal bar, square bar, round bar, hot rolled quarto plate, ornamental and decorative tube/handrails, welded mesh and pipe. ASD has the processing facilities to offer stainless steels in almost any format.

Visit our website to find out more about what we have to offer.

Just like our stainless steels, we offer aluminium in almost any profile, shape, size, finish or extrusion. This includes; rolled aluminium sheet, painted sheet, specialised aluminium sheets, extruded flat bar, extruded equal angle, extruded unequal angle, extruded round tube, extruded square tube, extruded channel, extruded rectangular tube, extruded square bar, extruded round bar, extruded double feather edge, extruded T section, extruded moulding, wallboard section, cope mouldings, extruded miscellaneous channels, alucore and Etalbound light. In fact, our facilities allow us to process aluminium in almost any format, so for special requirements, just give us a call.

Hot Dipped Galvanised Products

In addition to electro-zinc coating and iron-zinc coating processes, ASD has the facilities to supply metals hot dipped galvanised. The feedstock for HDG is cold reduced coil that has been through the tandem mill, though not annealed or temper rolled. Before entering the annealing furnace to soften the steel and bring it to the required temperature for dipping, the coil passes through a cleaning furnace or an electrolytic cleaning process. After the dipping process, jets of air blow away the molton zinc to achieve the desired coating weight or thickness. The zinc coating is frozen as it passes through coolers and a quench tank - It then enters a temper mill. To finish the process, the surface is treated with chemicals that reduce storage rust problems and is also covered in a light oil film for further protection.

Electro-Zinc Plated Products

ASD has developed electro-zinc plated products for use in the autobody industry and for other applications which require high levels of corrosion resistance and a surface that is suitable for painting. The surface of the strip is cleaned using electrochemical and electrolytic processes before it is chemically activated to allow a good ‘take’ on the surface for coating. The strip then passes through zinc plates (or anodes) that are suspended in vertical plating cells through which Zinc sulphate (the electrolyte) is pumped. The strength of the current and the speed at which the coil passes through the cell assembly determines the thickness of the zinc coating. To finish the process,
the coil is thoroughly rinsed before a protective treatment is applied.
