Product Range

Alloy Wire International supplies wire in a wide range of shapes and profiles, and we are constantly expanding this range in order to accommodate for the ever-changing requirements of modern industry. We supply angles, squares, rectangles, rounds, triangles, rail sections, T sections, and many irregular profiles. These are all available in hard, bright annealed or special tempered finishes. On the AWI website you'll find the full range of profiles that we manufacture. If there is a specific shape that you would like us to produce, simply fax or email us the profile and quantities required and we'll be more than happy to provide a quote.

Resistance Wires

AWI manufactures a variety of specialist resistance wires for a range of sealing, cutting and heating applications. This includes:

  • Element wires for heat sealers and impulse sealing.
  • Wires for vacuum sealing applications.
  • T profile wires for heat sealing and impulse sealing.
  • Hot cutting wires for foam (EPS).
  • Wire and tape for electric heating elements.

Resistance wire may be purchased in low quantities. If you are unsure as to which type of wire you need (size or electrical resistance), you can order our tester pack containing a selection of different wire or ribbon for you to try. Find out more by visiting our website at www.alloywire.com.

Packaging and Despatch

AWI supplies wire in the form of coils, spools and cut lengths. All items will be clearly labelled with your order number, alloy details, dimensions, weight, cast number and production date. Typical lead times are around three weeks, but for customers who have an urgent requirement we have an Emergency Manufacturing Service (EMS) available. Find out more at www.alloywire.com.

Coil Sizes

AWI coils contain one continuous length of wire. On request, AWI can weld wires together and mark the welds for removal by the customer. We are also able to split orders into small weight coils. Both ends of each coil are tensile tested and PMI (Positive Material Identification) tested.

Coils are secured with plastic ties, labelled, and packed suitably for the chosen method of transport, either in boxes, palletised or in crates. Coil diameters range from 200mm (up to 20kgs) to 1000mm (up to 100kgs). For more information on sizes, please consult our sizing table on the Alloy Wire
International website.

Spools

Each spool contains one continuous length of wire. In most cases, AWI are able to join wire together to give longer lengths or split orders onto small weight spools if required. Every spool undergoes PMI testing, and, depending on the number of spools, tensile testing is also carried out on each spool or to our sampling plan. All spools are labelled and packed suitably for the chosen method of transport, either in boxes or in crates. Please follow the link to our website for our spool size guide.

Quality and Testing

Alloy Wire International holds full ISO 9001 approval - and has done since 1991. These quality approvals give our customers assurance that AWI products are made to the very highest standards. We also hold approvals from BAE Systems, Raytheon and Westland. All of the materials that we use are fully certified and traceable back to the primary source. Incoming material is visually inspected and PMI tested before manufacturing begins and is also constantly monitored during the various production processes. Upon completion, all products are checked for size, properties and appearance. We carry out a range of mechanical tests using in-house equipment, including tensile testing, proof stress testing, hardness testing, wrap testing, bend testing, torsion testing, chemical analysis and
more.

Straight Lengths

AWI supplies wire in straightened and cut lengths from 3.0mm up to 3m, in diameters from 0.5mm up to 10.0mm. We are also able to supply centreless ground finished wire in diameters from 1.2mm up to 10.0mm, to a standard h8 tolerance.

Tighter tolerances are available upon special request.
