Production
Carr's produces laser weld components that end up in all sorts of places; cars,
hospitals, aircraft, and even space. In the automotive sector, we've worked
on everything from dash board tools to technical mouldings for gearbox mechanisms,
and have become an integral part of the production supply chain for companies like
Bentley, Honda, GM, Ford, Jaguar and Toyota. Aerospace is one of the most demanding
industries out there, and the quality of the component, as well as the quality of
the weld job, is vital for success. The Medical industry is equally as demanding,
since the slightest worn edge on a mould could produce a life-threatening flash
on a component. Laser technologies offer the most precise weld capability, which
is why Carr's has been called upon to laser weld surgeon's tools, knifing
assemblies, and other medical assemblies. And of course, we also work with the Electronics
industry, for which laser welding technologies were originally developed!

Injection Mould Tools
For over 14 years, Carr's has been welding and repairing tools, and over that
time we've accumulated specialist knowledge on the steels that are used, why
they wear out, and what can be done about it. We're able to laser weld the area
of the tool that has been damaged or eroded by impact and/or gas. After restoration,
the tools can then be re-machined. To find out more, please head to the Carr's
Welding Technologies website.

Blow Moulds
Carr's Welding Technologies has been repairing blow moulds in stainless steel
and aluminium for over a decade. For a good, clean moulding, it's essential
that the knifing edge remains keen and well-maintained. We use precise laser welding
techniques to restore or repair even the most intricate of moulding details, leaving
only minimal after-work to finish the tool and get it running again.

Precision Components
Metal components are often too valuable to scrap, so there is no room for error
when it comes to the welding process: if a single tolerance is wrong on inspection,
the whole component might be rendered useless. Using laser welding techniques, we're
able to join aluminium or steel parts in such a fashion that the weld is invisible
and the filler is matched to the component. We get the job done right first time.
Carr's Welding Technologies hold approvals for laser welding defects, which
are accepted in production cars.

Firearms
and Shotguns
Carr's Welding Technologies now provides its laser welding services for gunsmiths
all over the UK and the USA. Whether the weld is needed on a cosmetic surface or
a functional gun component, we can match the metal and finish to an exceptional
standard. Triggers, guards, firing pins and sears can all be welded. If you would
like to find out more, please get in touch.

Laser Brazing
Brazing is the most commonly used metal fusing technique when a water tight or air
tight seal is required. This process is usually carried out in a furnace or with
a large burner. We're able to use a laser with a large, defocused spot size
to braze a small area or to repair existing brazing. The laser provides a heat source
which, when applied to a local area for the right period of time, brings the metal
to melting point.

Robotic Laser Welding
Carr's Welding has always recognised the potential of laser weld technologies,
and since we began using them back in 1998, the company has continually invested
in the very latest equipment. Our Trumf 1006D Laser welds titanium and steel at
an unprecedented rate, and is able to fuse joints and seams with a highly precise,
keyhole weld. Its 6-axis robotic arm delivers the laser to 3D assemblies with the
accuracy and repeatability that cannot be achieved manually. The condition of the
weld is often so neat and precise that there is no need for after welding or fettling,
and because Robotic lasers are so fast and efficient, the unit is produced at a
significantly lower cost - ideal for small batch projects.

Racing
We're very proud to have served some of the world's most demanding industries,
including aerospace, automotive, medical, electronics, and also racing. Carr's
have welded everything from steering racks to suspension arms, delivering excellent
components for an industry where only the very best will do. We have worked with
some of the best F1 and Rally teams to get their drivers to pole position.
