Company Description
If you're looking for a comprehensive, cost-effective electronics manufacturing and assembly service from an experienced, reliable provider, Offshore Electronics Ltd is your natural choice of partner. Since our inception in 1990, we have made substantial investments into the very latest, state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and automated assembly equipment. From our purpose built 20,000sq ft factory in Guernsey we can offer surface mount PCB assembly, through-hole assembly and soldering, mechanical assembly and instrument build, testing, and quality control. All these processes are undertaken in a clean and tidy environment with modern anti-static benches and flooring for a safer working environment. Our highly experienced engineers are qualified to the appropriate IPC-A-610 workmanship standard, so you can expect a quality finish.

Our aim is to provide a first-class service to the UK, European and International markets, so whether you need a partner for a complete product manufacture or simply a reliable source for PCB assembly and testing, you can rely on Offshore Electronics. Visit our website or give us a call today to find out more about the great services we offer.

Surface Mount PCB Assembly

At our manufacturing facilities in Guernsey, we have three surface mount lines for 0402 – BGA placement. Consisting of a DEK screen printing machine, a Philips SMD shooter, a Philips fine pitch placement machine, and forced air reflow soldering equipment, each automated line produces accurate, quality finished products. Screen printers offer a fully automated, repeatable solder paste print on the board, and because the process is carried out in an enclosed air conditioned environment, the solder paste retains its consistency. The printed circuit board is then transported into a GEM Topaz high speed chip shooter capable of placing  15,000 components per hour. After this, the board continues to a GEM emerald for high precision placement of parts such as BGAs, TSOPs, QFPs etc. To complete the process, the board is passed through the forced air solder reflow oven to form a perfect soldered joint.

Electronics Testing

Offshore Electronics Ltd offers a comprehensive, in-house testing facility. For a tailored test service, we offer in-circuit testing, J-Tag boundary scanning, AOI automated optical inspection, full functional board and instrument test, calibration, quality control and soak. Two Teradyne Z1890VP in-circuit test machines lie at the heart of our test facility. These have a maximum node count of 2048, comprehensive digital and analogue device coverage, and vectorless test techniques, enabling us to quickly obtain a high level of fault coverage. Whatever your test requirements, Offshore Electronics can develop a solution that is tailored to your needs.

Mechanical Assembly and Instrument Build

Our mechanical assembly and instrument build processes are undertaken by experienced personnel working at well equipped anti-static workstations. All of our electronics engineers are trained and certified to the highest IPC-610 standard. From your first enquiry to final delivery, we operate a quality assurance system that is audited by LRQA and BABT. Offshore Electronics provides WEEE and RoHS compliance advice, along with electronics and production engineering support for product development, cost reduction and change control.

Through-hole Soldering

In addition to offering innovative surface mount technology, Offshore Electronics Ltd also provides a conventional through-hole assembly and soldering service. We use two Blundel CMS400 flow solder machines in our through hole soldering processes, one dedicated to lead free (SnAgCu) soldering, the other to tin lead (SnPb) soldering. We have also recently installed Pillarhouse selective soldering equipment for double sided assemblies.

Through-Hole Assembly

We use state of the art equipment to provide high quality through hole assembly  of various kinds. We create conventional component insertion in three main stages using a Universal Multi-Mod 6772a and an Amistar CI3000 to insert 0.3 and 0.6 inch dual-in-line packages. This equipment enables us to insert more than 5000 components per hour. We also use two Amistar AI6448 axial inserters that can insert more than 6000 components per hour. As part of the process the parts transported are verified for value, inserted, crimped and the leads cut. We also use the Universal RAD5 radial component inserter for the fitting of 0.1 and 0.2 inch pitch radial components such as LEDs transistors and capacitors.

Quality Assurance & Control

We operate with a fully integrated Quality Management System certified to BS EN ISO 9001:2008 by Lloyds Register of Quality Assurance. Our Quality Management System ensures that all of our customers receive a first class service at all stages of production. Our engineers work to IPC-A-610 class 3 which means that a consistently high level of manufacture is met at all times for UK, European and International OEMs and end-users.  We are always working to achieve the highest standards in all areas of production and are currently working towards BS EN ISO 140001 environmental accreditation.
