Initially developed by Tekpro Limited as a prototype during a twelve-month research and development project sponsored by the UK Home Grown Cereals Authority (www.hgca.com), the Insectomat pest detection equipment is designed to enable stores, mills and export silos to ensure they do not accept or supply insect infested wheat or barley. The Insectomat offers several benefits over manual sieving systems: • Improved Health & Safety standards due to reduced dust inhalation by operators • 100% insect detection rate, with an accuracy of 0.1 insects per kg in samples up to 10kg • Short cycle time of under two minutes as opposed to almost six hours for the Berises Funnel Method means that each incoming load of grain can be checked for insect contamination upon arrival • Repeatable results guaranteed by automatic screening that eliminates potential operator error • Eliminates the requirement for expensive fumigation and minimises the use of pesticides by preventing the introduction of infested grain to clean stock.

The Insectomat insect detection machines are sophisticated sieves that facilitate improved detection of insects in wheat and barley at intake, preventing contamination of clean stock with infested grain, minimising pesticide and fumigation requirements and ensuring better quality control. This results in improved safety and product quality as well as significant production cost savings over the lifetime of the equipment.
Available in two models that can process 5Kg and 10Kg of grain samples respectively, the Insectomat 5K and 10K have been designed for fast automatic operation with repeatable results and a high degree of accuracy.
The original Insectomat 10K features dimensions of 140 cm (H) x 75 cm (W) x 150 cm (L). The smaller bench-top model Insectomat 5K, with dimensions of 44 cm (H) x 42 cm (W) x 60 cm (L) is ideally suited to laboratory applications.
The durable construction features a powder coated mild steel body, removable stainless steel trays and an ABS hood.
