Compliance

We design compliant products so that they can be legally placed on the market. We are pleased to be partners with the CE Marking Association (compliance specialists). This partnership enables us to ensure that all directives and standards are identified in the research process so that products have the best change of passing regulations. The CE Marking Association helps product manufacturers in areas of the CE Marking Directive such as electrical equipment, machines, medical devices, construction products, toys and more to understand and meet legal obligations. The CE Marking Association offers advice, product testing and assessment, training, support and ongoing conformity via membership of the Association.

Concept Design

Concept Design forms the basis of all of our design projects. The concept development stages are key to the success of a design project. We use a range of brainstorming techniques, tried and tested hand sketching methods and draw from our knowledge and experience to create innovative and effective ideas. The concept design process usually includes basic CAD to enable us to visualise the concept and to communicate the concept with the client. We work closely with clients throughout the design stages to ensure the most effective solutions are reached.

CAD Realisation

CAD Realisation takes a concept through to manufacture. It is the process whereby the concept is turned into something tangible and features various distinct stages depending on the product type and customer requirements.

• CAD Rendering: the method of using CAD to create photorealistic images.
• Prototype CAD: considering the internal structure of the concept and taking into account factors such as materials, the need to apply additional internal support, and the purpose of the prototype.
• CAD for Manufacture: considering the manufacture of the concept involving a new stage of CAD to consider final materials, necessary tools and the Bill of Materials (BOM) as well as the requirements of clients own supply chain.

Applied Industrial Design

Our unique Applied Industrial Design process is in place to help clients secure commercially valuable IP rights in high growth, high technology, advanced/ additive manufacturing techniques and products. Our experience in the industry enables us to offer fantastic services integrating high technology manufacturing techniques into the core specification of products and materials in a process that we define as Commercial Application of Industrial Design, or Applied ID™ for short. Applied ID™ features: Research and Development of materials and manufacturing techniques, Project management of the product development, Scope and Commissioning of Intellectual Property searches, Seek Intellectual Property Rights for all project stakeholders and Seek routes to market to commercialise the Intellectual Property Developed.

Prototyping

Fripp Design Ltd provides first class rapid prototyping services. We use state of the art equipment and modern techniques to prototype all kinds of products, small or large, in a range of materials. We use technologies such as Viper SLA’s, SLS, FDM, CNC, 3D colour prints, extrusions, vac castings, silicone mouldings and more. We have also recently introduced a new production service which we refer to as First Stage Prototyping. This process features the creation of 3D rendered images of the product and inserts them into real world scenarios.
