Company Description

We are a reliable, proven and trustworthy company offering innovative product development and manufacturing outsourcing services. Our relationships with existing clients have been built on trust, dependability, continuous improvement and focus.

As specialists in electromechanical engineering and manufacturing, we have a reputation for competitive prices, product quality and on-time delivery. Statutory and regulatory compliance are an integral part of our services, and we have a great deal of expertise in this area.

We position ourselves as a manufacturing partner with our clients, so after sales support and continuing product development are key elements of our service offering.

Professionalism and ethics are at the heart of our ethos, and our customers can have confidence in our integrity with regard to their Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and our ability to focus on and support their product development activity.

Case Study: Borregaard

Our client had developed a machine to analyse and establish a measure of the degradation of animal feed pellets between manufacture and final use. From an original request for a new supplier to manufacture the existing product, our involvement quickly grew to working with the client to design and develop a new methodology consisting of a repeatable and stable test environment ensuring the achievement of consistent results.

We then began establishing a range of equipment for different applications based on the same test methodology. The client was impressed with our development and manufacturing expertise, and after eight years of involvement, invited us to market their Pellet Durability Testers globally under licence. This has resulted in still more product development, increased market share and demand.

Case Study: Pregis

Although Void Fill Packaging is a basic element of product distribution, traditional methods utilise large volumes of material that must be stored and ultimately disposed of. Our client's concept was to inject compressed air into polyethylene tube stock to create cushioning volume on demand.

We were invited to update the concept machine for CE compliance and improve its reliability whilst balancing cost restraints. The result has been 12 years of product involvement and development through five reiterations of the original concept, each producing improved functionality and reduced cost, and culminating in increased demand and market share for our client.

Case Study: Solar Highways

Our brief was to reduce the power consumption of the client's innovative solar energy powered portable temporary traffic light system. The requirement was to make the system sustainable by an easily deployed solar array and maximise the solar energy available from the UK's frequently cloudy skies.

We produced a self-contained, secure trailer unit that housed the traffic lights, cable drums, road signs and heavy duty batteries while at the same time presenting the solar photo-voltaic array in an optimum configuration.

The final result achieved national acclaim as ground-breaking technology at the time and was utilised by major civil engineering companies as an environmentally friendly, cost-effective system.

Case Study: Fotostar

The concept was the placement of vending machines for disposable cameras at popular sight-seeing and event venues. Our brief was to design and construct an aesthetically pleasing, secure, reliable and weatherproof vending unit.

Engineering requirements dictated that the each unit comprise non-jamming and reliable vending and drive mechanisms with integrated electronic controls powered by a 12v NiCAD battery. A note reader, tamper-proof alarm system and secure, weatherproof case were necessary.

Flexibility, adaptability and a stable supply chain of approved sub-contractors capable of coping with the stop/start nature of sales was vital to the success of this project.

Case Study: Samplex

Increasingly stringent food and feed regulations, driven by consumer pressure, have made consistent and reliable bulk sampling an absolute necessity for products destined for Western markets.

A truly representative sample of the entire incoming product load is key to effective bulk sampling. Our patented sampling Spear/Probe complies with ISO 13690, taking the sample under gravity to ensure a full load stratification from top to bottom.

Sampling machines must operate reliably in harsh outdoor environments, handling hundreds of lorry loads per day during peak harvest periods. For this reason, we designed bulk sampling machines that are easily maintainable and robust, with simple mechanical operation for maximum reliability.

Marketed under the Samplex brand, these units are now in world-wide use and are known for their quality, reliability, durability and adaptability.

Case Study: Insectomat

Developments in food safety began to preclude the use of fumigation and pesticides in grain processing, yet existing pest detection methods did not accurately detect small populations of insects.

During a twelve-month R&D project funded by the Home Grown Cereals Authority, a prototype flat-bed reciprocating sieve that consistently recovered close to 100% of two grain pest species was developed.

A pre-production prototype, designed to incorporate the working principles of the first machine as well as meet commercial safety and operating standards, was developed and tested. This unit was capable of processing 10 kg of wheat in under two minutes with an infestation detection rate of 0.2 insects/kg.

The impressive performance of the pre-production prototype led to the development and introduction of the Insectomat, which can detect the presence of insects at intake, improve quality control and prevent infested grain from being introduced to clean stock.

Our Services

We specialise in developing products from concept to market, offering product development and manufacturing outsourcing services as a practical and cost-effective alternative to setting up your own in-house design, engineering and manufacturing facilities.

We offer Development services such as feasibility studies, design, prototyping and control system design. Our Technical services include CAD drawing, product certification, regulatory compliance, product documentation and manuals.

Our Manufacturing services include cost & production engineering, quality control, procurement, inventory and supply chain management. We also offer After Sales services such as marketing, distribution management, technical product support, installation & commissioning, and on-site service and maintenance.

Core Philosophy

Simplicity, Focus and Innovation are the fundamental tenets at the root of our success in product design and client relationships.

We believe simple systems are more reliable than complex ones, so we look for ways to engineer out complications and their resulting product cost increases.

Early in the development stage of each project, we identify and maintain focus on the project's crucial element, whether it be a feature, price, benefit, quality or delivery timescale.

In general, simplification and gaining an edge in an increasingly competitive global market require innovative thinking and exploitation of new ideas.

These three concepts together illustrate what makes us different, and putting our philosophy into practice makes our outsourcing services beneficial to large and small customers alike.
