Rated Blast Doors
We are continually investing, researching and developing new fire rated blast doors to provide the industry with the most effective solutions. In 2007 we introduced the four hour blast 44kn blast door assembly which featured steel door sets for heavy duty blast resistance but also with fire certification to four hours (tested to BS EN 1634-1:2000. In 2011, we invested further in our product range to create the lighter 22kn blast door range (two hour rated fire blast door) which underwent and passed stringent testing processes to BS EN 1634-1:2008 to prove effective in protection for up to two hours from a blast wave as well as fire protection.

Doors
We supply a range of high security steelwork doors and associated products to various HM Prisons, young offenders’ institutes, detention centres, and immigration centres throughout the UK as well as to various customers worldwide. Our product range includes HMP standard prison doors, HMP safer cell doors, HMP dirty protest cell doors, HMP disabled cell doors, HMP C&R doors, HMP grille gates, HMP high security 24 hour enhanced window grilles, fixed roof grilles and sliding roof grilles and hatches, glazed security counters with document transfer units, security windows and screens, stainless steel glazed key chutes, and high security steel door sets.

Doors
Our highly skilled engineers design and manufacture complete blast door solutions and manufacture all types of blast doors to specific requirements and required loadings. They are supplied with independent design calculations to indicate the capabilities of the blast door. The door mechanism much depends on the required loading but ranges from hydraulic multiple shoot bolt assemblies through to lighter Surelock McGill multi-point panic bar systems with optional locking. Various sealing options are available such as dust seals, gas tight seals and liquid viscous napalm seals.

Tight Doors
Our gas tight doors are widely used for bio-hazard laboratories, pharmaceutical and industrial clean rooms, gas tight enclosures, water treatment facilities, sewage treatment works, government laboratories, fumigation suites, research facilities, hospitals, military buildings, universities, and more. Our range can be manufactured from painted steel, alloy, or any grade of stainless steel to suit clean room environments. We also supply heavy set gas tight steel doors to also act as blast resistant doors for battery rooms, chemical storage facilities or flammable liquid stores. Gates
Our bund gates are supplied with various paint systems and seals determined by the type of liquid material that they may be exposed to (examples include oil products, aviation fuel, weak acids, ferrous sulphates and slurries). The use of bund gates has increased throughout the years as legislation stated that all domestic oil storage tanks over 2500 litres must be bunded under the Control of Pollution Regulations 2001. Logs
Stop logs are a fantastic alternative to flood gates where visual impact is a factor. They are lightweight solutions that are non-corrosive to salt water and pollutants thus providing durable flood defence solutions. Our stop logs can be stacked in multiples of 200mm and can be increased or decreased in seconds as necessary. They have been tried and tested to depths of 1100mm, to water pressures of 3.4 tonnes, and carry the BS kite mark PAS 1188-1 and a patent design. Our single stop logs are supplied up to widths of 2.5 metres - widths larger than this require removable posts at 2.5 meter maximum increments.

We can also design and manufacture sliding security gates. In 2009, we were approached to dismantle and remove an existing manually operated gate system and to replace it with an automated single leaf sliding gate. The new gate system was needed to maximum safety in a position where wind funnelled past the entrance. Our sliding gate solution accommodated the wind load and featured a top hung drive system as well as electric driven motors to replace the existing hydraulic drive systems.

Gates
Our flood gates are designed and manufactured to incredibly high standards and from top quality materials in order to be effective and durable in their application. Our standard designs are set to protect against a static head of water with an overtopping factor of 200mm, as well as to withstand impact from flood debris in larger river systems. They are finished with 400 micron epoxy paint systems and hot metal fire spray base coats as standard to protect the steelwork for up to 25 years. Demand for our flood gates has risen in the last few years due to the change in climate and we will continue to provide customers with first class, effective flood barrier solutions.

Proof Doors
We also supply bullet proof doors and windows tested to EN1522:1998 Classification FB4 and glazed panels to BR4 EN1063. Designs are endless with options including full height security screens, or fully or partially glazed screens to form secure walling systems to suit specific requirements. We also provide intermediate posts and corner posts to enable the construction of secure rooms within rooms to form secure locks, safe rooms, key rooms, and secure bolt holes. Our bullet proof door systems are manufactured and put together as flat pack sets to suit customer requirements. Installation is straightforward with only basic drilling and bolting required.

Windows
Defence Doors has worked closely with the Environment Agency to design and develop flood defence windows for domestic properties. Our standard range is manufactured from non-ferrous materials and designed to imitate UPVC domestic windows, finished in white powder coating. They feature heavy duty cockspur latches and stainless steel casement for secure closing, as well as a fully watertight seal. Our flood windows are designed to withstand debris and flotsam impact load of 1000kg at a speed of m/s as well as a static head of water.

We have designed and installed a relatively new concept of stainless steel flood defence windows. They have been installed alongside a series of floodgates to ensure all defence levels are maintained. The combination of flood defence systems provides protection along the length of the flood defence as well as areas where the defence walls are broken by the position of buildings.
