Uson LP, based in Houston, is a company that came to us with the requirement for a rugged interface suitable for a new range of products. We collaborated with our colleagues at Design Edge and designed and created a perfect solution. We used our KeyFlex design for the keypad which covered the product face and had integral switching via membrane substrate and with poly-domes and ribbon cable lead out. To make this particular keypad easy to use, we enhanced it with a touch sensitive circular capacitance selector.

RDS Technology Ltd, based in Gloucestershire, required an attractive, sealed interface for its new market product. They required a more three dimensional approach to the keypad. As a result, we designed and produced a KeyFlex silicone elastomer interface in two parts with a six-key and 16-key keypad. This keypad featured conventional carbon dipped contacts which were applied beneath each of the 22-key moulded buttons/switch positions. Tactile effect was supplied by the elastomer actuator skirt (200 g 1.3 travel).
