The
types of production employed on a regular basis are listed below:
-
Single
Operation - This entails using individual tools in separate presses
(operations usually undertaken by hand - occasionally by pick & place
robots).
-
Progression
Tooling - This uses one tool on which a number of operations undertaken
one following the other. Material used in coil form
-
Transfer
Tooling - This uses various individual tools (occasionally one big tool)
where individual components are automatically transferred from on stage to
another until the final component is produced.
The tools can be mounted into one large bed
tooling area or can be mounted into a number of presses joined together with
automatic feeding equipment.
-
Assembly
- Parts produced on Single Operation, Progression or Transfer Tooling are
then assembled into final component assembles.
