- African drum or drumming workshops - African drum or drumming workshops
African drumming is a popular workshop activity. We have done African drumming with every age group, to children and adults of all ages and abilities including children with disabilities. African drumming is fun, versatile and can even work well with mixed aged groups, or children with adults. With a range of African djembe drums, and larger bougarabou drums, along with other traditional instruments, it’s educational and fun. African drumming workshops can go down well for events, as an after school or educational activity linked to music or culture. African drumming is also a great tool for team building for corporate training days. Get in touch!
- Boys stuff mix (workshops boys enjoy) - Boys stuff mix (workshops boys enjoy)
Nugent Education discovered over the years, that there are a number of activities that in general, boys tend to enjoy and engage with. It’s important that boys (and young men – teenaged lads – young adult males), often more difficult to reach, learn from, participate in and raise self-esteem through taking workshops they enjoy.
These activities (workshops) include all the popular urban arts such as graffiti art, rapping (or MC-ing), DJ skills, music production (any genre from hop hop to Pop or Rock) and graffiti or street art mural creation (Banksy style) on a wall or board. Other things like cartoon drawing, creative writing and mobile phone music download workshops, and even African drumming can also be popular. A mix of these workshops is usually based on six to eight weekly two hour sessions.
- Break-Dancing & Street-Dance workshops - Break-Dancing & Street-Dance workshops
Right now, break dancing and street dancing have become increasingly popular with young people, more so since the recent exposure from talent shows on reality television. Boys often seem to enjoy the more exuberant break dancing, whereas for girls, street dance seems more to their liking. It’s fun, invigorating and exciting; enjoyed by boys and girls equally. Street dance workshops are great for team building and performances. Those taking part in street dancing may learn aspects of a routine step by step, which may eventually become one performance piece involving everybody. Confidence and self-esteem are enhanced, and this has been noted in our feedback forms on many occasions. Workshops teach Popping, Locking, Breaking, Up Rock, Floor Work and much more.
- Corporate quality film production - Corporate quality film production and film production workshops

Involving both young people, and youth sector workers, we have created promotional films and educational films that have received excellent feedback. We regularly employ Drama workshops or simply what we call ‘group activities’, for the embodiment of key themes / initiatives, such as social inclusion, anti-racism, and respect for self and others. We have achieved outstanding results from our Drama projects (see testimonials page). Feedback from participants regularly states that their confidence has increased since starting on our courses
- Girls stuff mix (workshops girls enjoy) - Girls stuff mix (workshops girls enjoy)
As with the boys, many young girls, especially from aged eleven plus seem to ask for and engage with a range of activities they like. So what activities do girls enjoy? These include street dancing, one of the most requested workshops amongst girls throughout the country, especially with the recent exposure reality TV talent shows have given the genre. Also makeup, hair, nails and beauty workshops and jewellery making (sometimes cookery). A mix of two hour sessions of each usually applies.
- graffiti art workshops - If you want young people to get involved in art workshops, even those who would normally snub art. We have also taught Science and Geography through Rapping, with truly amazing results. Our ‘Rap for Revision’ workshops have been proven to improve exam results. Imaging the retention rates that occur when children rap and repeat information; it sticks! With top hip-hop rappers like Philly Wizz and MC’s like MC Rory-O of Merseyside’s Killer Kombo.
