Sheffield based XL Precision Engineering specialises in CNC turning and milling services. With more than ten years experience in the industry XL Precision Engineering is able to provide customers with first class solutions for all kinds of engineering requests. We are now one of the leading sub-contract engineering companies in the field and provide services to customers in all kinds of industries. We have developed the company and invested in state of the art machinery to be able to produce both small and large batch runs in fast turn around times. Our team works with a wide range of materials including most plastics and alloys to stainless steel. Alongside our cutting edge CNC milling and turning equipment we also work with various honing, pressing and slotting equipment so that we can provide a complete service under one roof as a cost effective solution for customers. Workshop

We have invested in a range of state of the art machinery and equipment to create a highly productive engineering workshop. Our workshop features various turning and milling machines as well as a range of slotting, honing and pressing equipment that enables us to provide a complete service under the one roof. Our skilled engineers are able to provide a range of engineering solutions and produce components in a full range of sizes from approximately 1mm diameter through to 600mm diameter. We have also built strong relationships with other leading suppliers in the field so that we can provide finished components with confidence.

CNC Lathes

We also work with various CNC lathes ranging from two axis (in a range of sizes) through to seven axis. This range of machinery enables us to complete production in fast turn around times to incredibly high standards. The Doosan S310SMLY 5  axis twin spindle CNC lathe features live tooling to both spindles and can produce various operations in one go. This reduces the time taken to use different machinery for the same job and subsequently reduces production costs.

Honing Services

Our honing services complement our CNC capabilities and create superior surface finishes with increased accuracy in bores from 1.5mm through to 80mm in diameter. Honing is widely used for finishing applications such as cylinders for internal combustion engines, air bearing spindles and gears. The honing process features abrasive stones that are held under pressure against the surface that is being worked on in order to improve the geometric form of the surface as well as to improve the surface texture.

Sliding Head Technology

Here at XL Precision Engineering we are continually developing our business and investing in state of the art machinery and equipment in order to meet the challenging demands of the industry. As such, we have recently invested in sliding head technology. The new Star SR2ORII is a seven axis twin spindle machine that can provide simultaneous machining of both ends of the component at the same time. This effective process reduces production costs and enables us to provide services at fantastic prices. The Star sliding head technology is able to function 24/7 on certain components which allows us to achieve large production runs in fast turn around times.
