The ELSIG (Electronic Signature) secure identity card system offers many advantages
over identification systems based on paper documents or photo / signature combinations.
ELSIG is tamper resistant, using securely encrypted biometric data, authenticated
by the issuing authority, to confirm the cardholder’s identity. Biometrics are compared
at the point of interaction, guarding against the use counterfeit or altered cards.
ELSIG uses a digitally signed and locked barcode containing an encrypted hash of
the biometric data. Any overwrite or alteration attempt of the barcode will not
authenticate with the issuing authority. As the biometric data is encrypted, even
lost or stolen ELSIG cards cannot be read by unauthorised scanning terminals.
ELSIG supports database systems such as Oracle and SQL.
