  • LOLER - Lifting Equipment - LOLER 1998 Regulation 9 of the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) requires thorough examination of lifting equipment at specified situations. Unlike previous sectoral Lifting legislation where the scope of lifting equipment requiring thorough examination was clearly defined, the LOLER 1998 suffers from lack of definition regarding what equipment needs to be thoroughly examined. In addition, the LOLER 1998 gives the owner of lifting equipment the option of adhering to prescribed periodicity's for thorough examination or to have in place and to follow a scheme of examination produced by a competent person.
