Company Description

Xfurth Ltd are the UK's leading manufacturer of plastic welding machines and equipment, including spin welders, ultrasonic welders, hot plate welders, RF welders and infrared welding systems. We are also a UK distributor of components made by Weber Ultrasonics GmbH, a European market leader in the production of ultrasonic welding equipment and ultrasonic cleaning equipment. The products we manufacture and supply are used in a wide range of applications, including automotive, medical, building products, bedding manufacture, cosmetics, drinks dispensing, electrical/electronics, packaging, textiles, trade moulding, filter manufacture, and all sorts of other manufacturing processes.

When you choose Xfurth, you'll be guaranteed a quality product that has been designed and built using the very latest CAD/CAM software and CNC machines at our factory in Luton. The entire manufacturing process takes place in-house, meaning quality, lead times and service can be monitored and controlled at all times.

Because we maintain close working relationships with our clients, Xfurth can also build special purpose machines that are tailored to our customers' applications. Indeed, a considerable amount of our plastics welding machines are innovative, bespoke products. The engineers at Xfurth have a wealth of experience in plastics welding, so our clients always deal with people who understand their needs.

As well as supplying standard and bespoke welding machines, Xfurth has the expertise to offer consultancy services on weld joint design, weldability of materials, prototyping and machine concept and design. We can also provide a full training programme to ensure staff are using our welding machines efficiently and effectively.

Ultrasonic Welding Machines

Over the last two decades, Xfurth has built up a portfolio of high-performance ultrasonic welding machines that can be used for a variety of functions, including component welding, spot welding, swagging, riveting, inserting and de-gating mouldings. With an ‘H’ frame aluminum design and a rigid dovetail head assembly, our machines are reliable and stable in use. They come complete with Polyurethane moulded front and rear hood with rear access doors. A touch screen control interface makes them extremely easy to use, and a 99 program memory saves time for repeat processes.

Heat Insertion Products

Offering a cost-effective method of applying multiple inserts, our heat insertion products eliminate the possibility of mould damage. Xfurth's products have been used for applications in the computer, automotive and telecommunications industries, as well as other sectors where there is a requirement. Easily adaptable for single or multiple operation, heat insertion is ideal for automated, high volume production processes. They offer outstanding repeatability, reliability and controllability, and have a temperature control system that is accurate to +/-1°C.

Special Purpose Machines

Xfurth is run by engineers with the industry experience and technical know-how to build bespoke, special purpose machines. Our tailor-made machines are renowned for their exceptional design, build quality, reliability and functionality. We establish a close working relationship with our clients to ensure that their special requirements are understood. We like to take on any challenge, meeting and often exceeding our customers' expectations. Throughout the process, they have the opportunity to have as much or as little input as they want. Indeed, many customers have relied on us to take the project from the initial concept right through to installation and staff training. Sometimes our customers have their own preferred machine builder. If requested, we can work with them too, advising on the integration of ultrasonic equipment for the best solution. If this is not required, we are more than happy to supply our equipment as stand-alone systems. Follow the link to find examples of our special purpose machines.

Ultrasonic Generators

Xfurth makes available a wide range of standard and special application ultrasonic generators. Combining our industry experience and technical know-how, we have developed SONIC-digital generators, a true technical breakthrough in ultrasonics. Digital frequency generation allows the separation of the generator from the front panel and the cooling systems. Protective systems ensure operational safety whilst also safeguarding the connected transducers. Our standard range of ultrasonic generators includes units with frequencies of between 20Hz and 40kHz, and outputs between 400 watt and 4000 watt. Each generator features an LCD function display for ease of use, while an ultrasonic switching unit is available which enables multiple welding transducers to be operated from one or more generators.

Hand Welders

It is often the case that automated welding processes are just not viable for large parts. In these situations, a low-cost alternative is needed. Light, compact and robust, our hand held pistol welding systems can be used in a multitude of applications. Spot-welding, staking of components and re-work is made possible with these mobile systems that allow access to difficult weld areas. This makes them perfect for a variety of work, including automotive welding and repair, prototyping, conveyor belt repair, re-work for automation, fabric repairs and joining, blister packs, and Vac forming. Visit our website and find out more about our XHP 840, XSH 840 and XPH 840 models.

Sonotrodes/Horns

With considerable experience in the production of tooling for ultrasonic welding, Xfurth uses its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities to produce sonotrodes in aluminum, titanium and special sintered steels. Sonotrodes transmit the welding energy into the component that is to be welded. The design of the sonotrode/horn depends on numerous factors, including amplitude/grain required, frequency, material to be welded, sonotrode/horn material, profile or form of component, and component size. Tooling is available for machines of every frequency, make and model. To ensure optimum efficiency, every sonotrode is systematically tested and inspected using the latest frequency analyzer before leaving our factory. We’ll also carry out weld trials prior to dispatch.

Spin Welding Products

Incorporating the very latest European electrical and safety standard, all of our spin welding machines are designed and built to CE specification. With integrated servo motors enabling precise control for variable speed and stopping positions, our spin welding products offer enhanced performance that has been tried and testing in a range of production applications. From ball float manufacturing to filters for the automotive industry, these versatile products can take on a multitude of tasks. To find out more, just visit our website or give us a call: our expert engineers are on hand to discuss your requirements.

Legacy Products

Xfurth's employees have considerable experience working with Herfurth and Herfurth GmbH equipment. Our technical knowledge of these systems means we can offer information and advice, while we also offer manuals and spares. Though many components may be difficult to source or even obsolete, we can still provide new, equivalent products which are generally interchangeable with Herfurth products. So if you require support for these legacy products, don't hesitate in giving Xfurth a call. On the Xfurth website you'll find a general list of Herfurth products that we can provide these services for.
